Soul Mate

Someone must have known I needed
One of God's best angels
Who says familiar things to me
And has familiar smells.

Everybody always said,
"Be careful what you wish for,
Because you might get hooked upon
The compliments you fish for."

Up 'til now that hadn't really
Seemed to be the case
And yet, it's not been long enough
For things to fall in place.

You said you'd never felt before
A hunger quite like this
Too real for me, I turn away
Just like a silly priss.

But then I hear the interval
Of us. A perfect fifth!
A harmony, as pure as lovers
Only find in myth.

I know this precious time will end
And mend within it's wake
The tragedies we walked away from
All for romance' sake.

Now hopefully when all is said
And done, we'll grasp with ease
The loveliness of you and me
As vast as all the seas.
